Season 1 Rules

Season 1 Rules:

  • Scheduling
    • A schedule will be released prior to opening matches. The intent will be to ensure a relatively even number of matches (including home/away) for all initial participants.
    • Scheduling will prioritize conference matchups. For Season 1, the conference will be the "Plane of Existence". Future seasons may or may not feature conference reorganization.
    • Participants introduced midseason will be utilized in "bonus" matches, but it is unlikely these participants will end up with as many total bouts as the original contestants.
  • Simulation Logic
    • Matchups are decided by a randomly generated coin flip, with odds weighted based on three factors:
      • The sum of the differences in each ranking criteria (Raw Power, Tactical Ability, Influence, Resilience, Versatility) and the Random Multiplier (see below) divided by 30.
      • A random ranking criteria (Raw Power, Tactical Ability, Influence, Resilience, Versatility) will be chosen as the Random Multiplier, effectively counting twice.
      • Home Field Advantage, which will be weighted at .10 (10%) for Season 1. This will apply in conference tournaments, but not in the Grand Championship.
    • For Season 1, odds weighting is not capped, meaning this weight may exceed .50 (50%), and just as would be expected in some of these matchups, they'll be over before they start.
  • Tournament Play
    • The Arena will pause for a few days after the completion of Season 1 (End of February 2024). Conference records will be determined and used for conference tournament seeding (with Overall Record used as a tie breaker).
    • Conference tournament winners and conference regular season winners (i.e., the #1 seed in the conference tournament) will be given automatic bids to the Grand Championship. For Season 1, there will be 7 conferences, meaning there will be 7-14 official bids post-conference championships.
    • The remaining 50-57 contestants will be selected based on numerous factors, especially their performance against the very best characters (Quad 1) and the very worst (Quad 4). Our contestant pool will continually expand, but the 64-slot tournament will not, and we expect these selections to increase in excitement in future seasons.
    • The last titan standing will be crowned the Season 1 Grand Champion, and will be enshrined in the halls of legend.
